«Engelholm» puts you on your feet

«Engelholm» (Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics) was founded by like-minded orthopedic doctors from Ukraine, Sweden and Germany. For the first four years, the institution worked on the basis of the Bukovina Medical Academy. At the end of 2002, the Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics became an independent medical institution and was named Engelholm.

The use of world experience and a serious material and technical base make it possible to carry out complex operations that are not accepted by other medical institutions in the country. It was here for the first time in Ukraine that the artificial knee and hip joints of the Struker company and the superficial ones of the well-known company DePuy were implanted. Doctors Engelholm constantly monitor the latest treatment methods and have their own developments. So, back in the early 2000s, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, Professor I.M. metal intramedullary fixators were developed and patented, which at that time had no analogues in world medical practice.

One of the main areas of work of the «Engelholm» Clinic is knee and hip arthroplasty. Prosthetics of joints involves replacing the destroyed part with artificial materials, including ceramics, metal alloys, high-pressure polyethylene. This is a rather complicated operation, because in many cases only endoprosthetics can completely restore the functioning of the limbs, relieve pain forever and return to an active life.

The clinic successfully performs surgical treatment of fractures, the main tasks of which are restoration of the integrity of the bone, the anatomical shape of the joint, the function of the injured limb and the patient's working capacity.

Increasingly, the doctors of the clinic are turning to minimally invasive surgery, in particular arthroscopic operations. This is a type of surgery that uses an arthroscope (a camera with a diameter of 3-4 mm). This operation does not require a large incision, 5 mm is enough, which minimizes the load on the body and speeds up the recovery process.

A complex and fairly common pathology of the musculoskeletal system is the deformation and shortening of the long bones of the limbs. To solve this problem, Engelholm proposes a surgical correction of the axis and length of the limb.
The clinic provides diagnostics and treatment of benign tumors of bones and joints. They usually do not need special treatment, only constant monitoring, but if they cause pain or restrict the surrounding tissue, they are surgically removed.

The center also specializes in the treatment of diseases of the spine, aimed primarily at eliminating the main cause of back pain. For this, in many cases, one cannot do without surgical intervention. Engelholm performs such operations, in particular microsurgical decompression, endoscopic spinal surgery, epidural adhesiolysis, percutaneous nucleotomy. In 2012, a department of interventional cardiology was opened, which conducts diagnostics (coronary angiography) and treatment (stenting) of cardiovascular diseases.

Vasilchishin Yaroslav

Chief physician of the Engelholm Medical Center, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Neurosurgery, Bukovina State Medical University, traumatologist-orthopedist of the highest category.

He graduated from the Chernivtsi State Medical Institute. Repeatedly completed an internship in the best clinics in Sweden, Germany, USA, France and Italy. During his medical practice, he performed more than 8000 operations of the highest category of severity. For achievements in the field of traumatology, orthopedics, neurosurgery in 2008 he received the title of Honored Doctor of Ukraine.

Kamyanchenko Vyacheslav

Deputy chief physician, anesthesiologist, cardiologist.
He graduated from the Chernivtsi Medical Institute. From 1997 to 1999 he completed an internship in anesthesiology and intensive care at the Kharkov Institute of Postgraduate Education. After graduation, he worked as an anesthesiologist in medical institutions of the Chernivtsi region. She has been working at Engelholm since its inception.
